Welcome to College Community School District. We’re glad you are a part of our community. College Community is a growing school district that serves approximately 5,800 students from Linn, Benton and Johnson counties. The 137 square mile district includes parts of southwest Cedar Rapids, the cities of Ely, Fairfax, Shueyville, Swisher and Walford along with surrounding rural areas.
The district office determines building placements for students in grades K-4. The key factors that are considered when assigning students to one of our five excellent elementary schools are class sizes and the demographic composition of the student body. The district’s goal is to ensure all five elementary schools have similar student populations. College Community’s central campus allows us to balance both the student demographics and resources to the benefit of all children and building assignments are critical steps to balancing this effort.

The College Community School District serves the communities of Walford, Fairfax, Swisher, Shueyville, Southwest Cedar Rapids, and surrounding areas. The district has eight buildings on a central campus: Prairie Crest Elementary (PS-4), Prairie Heights Elementary (PS-4) Prairie Hill Elementary (PS-4), Prairie Ridge Elementary (PS-4), Prairie View Elementary (PS-4), Prairie Creek Intermediate (5-6), Prairie Point Middle School & Ninth Grade Academy (7-9), and Prairie High School (10-12).
