Can I open enroll my child to College Community School District?
College Community School District has closed open enrollment with the exception of those requests which are required by law such as continuation (a student who has been a resident of the District and chooses to continue their education at College Community).
Why are some people still approved for open enrollment?
Students that began as residents of College Community School District and have since moved out of district are allowed to open enroll along with siblings within the same household as currently open enrolled students.Enrollment in Preschool and 4-Year-Old programs does not constitute residency and does not allow continuation of enrollment per Iowa Code.
Open Enrollment Deadlines
Parents or guardians wishing to enroll in a district other than the district in which they reside must submit a formal application between July 1st and March 1st the year prior to enrollment. Those enrolling in kindergarten have until September 1st to submit their application.
Transportation
Parents/Guardians of students approved for open enrollment are responsible for transporting their students to and from school. State code allows for parents to request transportation assistance. Specific Income guidelines, separate from those for the free/reduced lunch program, must be met to qualify for this assistance. Documentation of the family’s income must be submitted each year the assistance is requested and updated any time the income changes by more than $50 per month. Please contact the district office at (319)848-5202 for more information about this program. For the link to the Iowa Department of Education guidelines for 2019-2020 please click here.
